The Bullmastiff was bred first and foremost to
protect. The British created the breed to guard gamekeepers’ estates from
poachers. Even today, the Bullmastiff is a preferred guard dog.

    my brother’s friend had a bullmastiff named Hoss… that dog was hilarious ^.^ very sweet, but VERY protective, had a 1/2″ metal chain wrapped around a maple tree that he snapped without effort x.x lol he didnt hurt anyone tho, just scared them half to death XD

    @tonyskins19 cos english mastiffs dont have the same prey drive plus they get tired after 10 minutes of action ,,the bullmastiff is a perfect example of combining 2 dogs to get a job done.lets see these bully pitts get talked about this in 100 years time ……….i think not.

    No, my dog’s name was Fritz – my mother named him Fritz. He was “pet quality,” but of championship stock on both sides.

    However, his size (and his build) have
    always made me wonder if there weren’t some other blood in his line, say, Bullmastiff or Dogue de Bordeaux.

    In any event, he was a real “champion”
    all the way – both in loyalty, and in intelligence, and he is STILL missed, although he died nearly half a century ago.,
